The Smart UV Curing Lamp We’ve Been Building
We’ve been working on the next generation of UV curing systems, specifically for medical device manufacturing. The big question we kept coming back to was this: how do we add real intelligence without losing the raw curing power that makes these lamps work? The answer, we found, was to build a lamp that doesn’t just deliver the right spectrum of light, but also tells you exactly what’s going on under the hood.
Power That Does Its Job—Without Fuss
Let’s get into the guts of it. We’re talking about a system that runs on a solid 400V input. That kind of power gives you the stability needed to strike the arc and keep it humming, so you get the high intensity required for fast curing cycles on the line. And the size? It’s built to fit. The lamp is just 300mm long, so it slides into tight spots in your machine without forcing you to redesign the whole curing station.
Built to Last, Built to Connect
The body of the lamp is wrapped in a quartz envelope. We chose quartz because it handles heat like a champ and lets UV light pass through cleanly. We also added a special coating on the inside. It protects the quartz from the intense arc, which means the lamp lasts longer before it needs replacing. The base uses a standard R7s connector. It’s a solid, low-resistance connection that can take the heat—literally—of running day in and day out. But here’s where things get interesting.
The Smarts That Keep You in the Loop
We built in a remote energy monitoring module. It’s a small sensor package that watches the lamp’s power draw, how long it’s been running, and its temperature—all in real time. What does that mean for you? It means you get a clear look at how much energy the lamp is using and how healthy it is. You can tweak the process for better efficiency and schedule maintenance before the lamp burns out. No surprises. No downtime.
Made for Medical Work, With Real-World Trade-offs
In medical device manufacturing, UV curing is used to bond catheters, seal tubing, and cure coatings on implants. Our lamp gives you the heat density and spectral control those jobs demand. And with the monitoring, you stay on top of energy costs and uptime. Now, the trade-off is real. Packing this much power into a 300mm space means the lamp runs hot. So your machine’s cooling system needs to be up to the task. We’ve built in the smarts to keep you in control, but the heat is something you need to plan for on the shop floor.
